SBF subpoena is 'definitely on the table,' says Rep. Maxine Waters

The United States House Financial Services Committee Chair Maxine Waters said a subpoena is "definitely connected the table" for erstwhile FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried, who has been requested to testify astatine a Dec. 13 hearing looking into the illness of FTX.

In a Dec. 8 tweet Waters said that "lies are circulating" aft a report from CNBC suggested she doesn’t program to subpoena Bankman-Fried to attest connected Dec. 13.

The study claimed Waters informed a radical of Democrats that she wanted the Committee to person Bankman-Fried to attest voluntarily.

Waters had archetypal requested Sam Bankman-Fried to look astatine the Dec. 13 proceeding connected Dec. 3 via a post connected Twitter.

Despite appearing successful multiple media interviews discussing FTX, Bankman-Fried stated connected Dec. 4 that he won’t look earlier the Committee until he’s “finished learning and reviewing what happened” and he’s “not sure” if that would hap successful clip for the hearing.

Citing his media appearances, Waters has previously pushed back astatine the FTX founders’ excuse, saying connected Dec. 5 that the accusation helium holds is “sufficient for testimony.”
